ABOUT
Alison Klymchuk (b. 1999 in Toronto*) is a Ukrainian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, working primarily in sculptural assemblage, photography and semiotics to unearth urban methodologies. She sources materials from skip bins and construction sites, reconstructing remnants of demolished residential buildings to translate stories of erasure. Her practice maps cities across Germany, Ukraine and Canada through rituals of gathering and home-building in the face of neo-colonial power structures.
Klymchuk holds a BFA with a minor in Art History from the University of Victoria, located on unceded Lekwungen territory. Her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions across Canada including Daniels Spectrum (Hallway Galleries) and the Ministry of Casual Living. Recent group exhibitions include LIFE IS GOOD AND I FEEL GREAT (Berlin), There’s No Home Place Like This Place Home (Berlin), and RUBEZH: DEATH (Tbilisi).
